ICE shines in Solar Farms

Coleambally Solar Farm

ICE are working for Bouygues-Construction Australia (BYCA) to install, test and terminate over 90 km of MV Cabling on the Coleambally Solar Farm.  Coleambally is a 150MW solar farm being developed by Neoen Australia, an Australian subsidiary of French renewable energy company Neoen, in New South Wales (NSW), Australia.

The solar power plant has a combination of multi-crystalline and monocrystalline solar PV modules to produce solar energy from sunlight.  A total of 565,488 solar PV panels, spread across 550ha of land, is to be installed at the plant. The PV panels will be mounted on a total of 6,362 trackers.

This is ICE’s first major Solar project and we are excited to be working on this site with 20+ men and women from our team.  Our proposal to utilise an automated cable feeding system enables the team to install cable at a rate far greater than conventional methods, providing the client with the efficiency required on these large scale farms.

Bouygues Construction Australia Pty Ltd (BYCA) is a construction and civil engineering company dedicated to providing world-class services in building, civil engineering, earthworks and infrastructure for mining services throughout Australia and New Zealand.

As a wholly-owned subsidiary of Bouygues Construction, BYCA is part of the Bouygues Group, a worldwide industrial group active in the sectors of construction (building, civil works, energy and services), property, roads, telecommunications and media.

Established by Francis Bouygues in 1952 in Paris, Bouygues has grown to become one of the world’s most influential industrial groups of the 21st century, active in over 80 countries including a strong presence in Europe and in the Asia-Pacific region.

Considered one of the world’s largest Tier 1 Contractors, Bouygues Construction is renowned for its healthy financial structure and its global capabilities in design management, financing, civil engineering and construction.

Working with BYCA is a great opportunity for ICE, to grow in a new and environmentally sustainable industry.

Bannerton Solar Park

The Project is located near Robinvale in Victoria, the site covers 192 ha and will be constructed with 319,406 solar panels.  ICE is providing UGL  with approximately 20 highly skilled and experienced Electrical Workers for the project.

The project has a peak generating capacity of 110MW (DC), reducing greenhouse gases by 94,600 tonnes per annum (CO2 equivalent), generating enough clean electricity to power around 30,000 homes and contributing to Victoria’s renewable energy agenda. The project reduces reliance in the area on fossil fuels and other non-renewable energy generation methods.

ICE has worked for and with UGL on previous occasions in the Oil & Gas and Mining sectors, so working on this large Solar Project is very pleasing to ICE says Nick Bindi CEO of ICE.

Solar Farm Operations and Maintenance

It’s been another big month at ICE, with securing $3M+ in Solar Farm installation work across NSW and VIC and now a significant O&M contract with one of the largest Solar farms in Australia and in our back yard says ICE Business Development Manager Richard De Nichilo.

ICE was selected by Solarig a Global leader in the development, operation and maintenance of Solar Plants across 19 countries as the preferred organisation to provide local Operations and Maintenance services for Bungala 1 Solar Farm located 12km’s from Port Augusta in the north of South Australia.

The Bungala project will at completion generate 300MW and be one of the largest of its type in Australia,  Stage 1 is completed, Stage 2 is underway with Stage 3 in final design.

This opportunity will provide 8 ICE staff permanent roles in the Operation and Maintenance of the facility with Solarig providing intensive training in Spain to ensure the ICE personnel have the specific skills to ensure the facility operates at peak performance.

All ICE employees are from either Port Augusta or Whyalla which is a great outcome for our community.

Feb 2017-SA BHP -Smelter Campaign maintenance SCM17

BHP has selected ICE Engineering and Construction as their Electrical and Instrumentation constructor for the 2017 Smelter Campaign Maintenance work (SCM17).  This large and complex project will provide approximately 280 jobs for our local South Australian based Supervisors, electricians, instrumentation technicians, commissioning techs and support staff.

ICE has a long history at Olympic Dam delivering projects since 2001 across the processing plantaround the mine site and in the township of Roxby Downs.    This project and the ongoing work that Olympic Dam provides is vital to the SME’s in the region and BHP Billiton has again demonstrated that it supports local companies that can step up and deliver.

“The confidence BHP has demonstrated in selecting ICE is a realization of many years of hard work and has come at a great time for the business and for our staff in both Whyalla and Adelaide”, said Nick Bindi the ICE CEO.
