July 2013 - SA - BP Aust - Largs North Terminal upgrade

BP Australia are constructing 2 additional 30 million litre storage tanks at its Largs North Terminal to meet the growing demand of South Australia’s mining and transport markets. The $20,000,000 project was awarded to Baulderstone who have engaged ICE Engineering & Construction as their Electrical & Instrumentation installation contractor. This project will be completed prior to Christmas and provide a challenge to the team as the terminal is classified as a Hazardous Area and will operate 24/7 during the construction phase. We are excited to be involved with this project as it allows us to utilise our hydrocarbons experience on a metropolitan site.

  • We completed  the following work packages in a Hazardous Brownfield Environment on a 24hr operation facility
    • Installation of a new MCC2 to supply new and existing plant
    • Modification to Site Power Distribution
    • Modification and Upgrade of Area Lighting
    • Installation of a new Tank Instrumentation
    • Replacement of Field Distribution Board
    • Modifications to a Vapour Recovery System
    • Modifications to the Site Fire System
    • Installation of Auxiliary Pump Bank Power and Control System RIO Panel
    • Installation of Auxiliary Pump Bank Instrumentation
    • Demolition and Relocation of existing services
  • Working in a challenging environment with multiple contractors ICE completed 4 x 325m 150mm² 3C&E Varolex cable pulls with no LTI’s or MTI’s
  • ICE maintained a positive relationship with all stakeholders throughout the project.
  • ICE has been nominated as a preferred contractor for future work on the site due to the safety culture, quality of work and collaborative attitude demonstrated during the execution of the works
